The Red Wolf - Protection
Some of the protection provided to the Red Wolf is Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, which first began the breeding of Red Wolves, and Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge’s Bulls Island, which became the first island breeding site.
Another 30 facilities participate in the red wolf Species Survival Plan and oversee the breeding and reintroduction of over 150 wolves. Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge, St. Vincent Island and Cape St. George Island are other breeding or reintroduction sites besides Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge's Bull Island and Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium.
