The Red Wolf - Behavior

Red Wolf The Red Wolf is somewhat solitary. It spends its time either alone or with its mate and cubs. The cubs usually leave the small pack by the age of 2 years. When a Red Wolf chooses a mating partner, they usually stay together for life.

A Red Wolf is usually ready to mate at the age of 22 months, although some mating at the age of 10 months have been recorded. The female wolf will make several dens for the pups. They move frequently around from den to den. The Red Wolf has no natural enemies, but may complete for prey against other animals and victims may be stolen by the Black Bear. The Red Wolf is also nocturnal, which means it is active at night and sleeps or does very little activity during the day.
